how do i select favorite horses to be shown on my profile

You need to click the box on the horse's page where you can edit his profile, and there you click the box 'add to my favourite horses'.

EDIT: there is a maximum to the number of horses you can put in the favourites on your page. I believe it's 40 but I'm not exactly sure of that.

EDIT 2: I forgot to mention the thing about VIP indeed, but as everyone is a (temporary) VIP now since we got the compensation, I assumed that is where the question came from. Lots of people have no experience with VIP at all so a lot of questions are to be expected.
By the way: there is a special VIP section in the forums :)
To add you need to be a Pegasus or VIP member to do so.
