[Event] The Great Challenge and the Treats Battle

The Great Challenge

and Festivities

The Great Challenge is back, and this time it will be followed by the Treats Battle.

How to play?

As usual, this contest takes place in two parts:

The Great Challenge phase: Collect horseshoes by completing in-game objectives.

The Festivities (Treats Battle) phase: Catch UFOs and decide to keep the gift (and lose points), send it to another player (and gain points), or spend Equus for a chance at a different UFO.

Note: there are no divine fragments in the daily objectives during this contest.

Part 1: The Great Challenge

Click to display
Collect Horseshoes: Every day, perform various actions to collect up to 100 horseshoes. 120 if you have bought the Premium Key.

Unlock Gifts: As you gather horseshoes, you'll unlock awesome gifts at certain thresholds, like game items, fragments and more.

Special Jackpots: Keep an eye out for the free Jackpot and other bonuses that await.

Community Goals: When you claim a gift, you also contribute to a community goal. Achieving this goal means more UFOs for everyone in the upcoming Battle!

Premium Key

Click to display
Buy the Premium Key with Passes to access:

Marvelous Premium Gifts: Gain access to exclusive gifts.

Extra Horseshoes: Increase your daily horseshoe limit to 120, helping you to catch up or to get ahead faster.

Buy the Premium Key early for maximum benefit, but remember, it's never too late!

The gifts that have been unlocked but not claimed during the Great Challenge part are automatically given when the Festivities start.

Jackpots

Free - Hermes' Winged

Staff

It allows you to use the Black Market's item of your choice for free, regardless of its value in passes.

Premium - Raven

Companions wake up during your horse's first action of the day. And they fall asleep when your horse ages. Raven gives a bonus of +14 in Trot.

New divine:

Romanticism

Throughout the contest, you can find fragments of the new divine horse Romanticism from the Art History Horses series.

Part 2: The Treats Battle

Click to display
The Festivities will start right after the Great Challenge ends.

Catch UFOs: During the festivities, your task is to catch UFOs in three daily sessions, with the number of UFOs based on your horseshoe collection.

Make Choices: After catching a UFO, decide to keep the gift (and lose points), send it to another player (and gain points), or spend Equus for a chance at a different UFO.

The value of the UFO's content affects the points you win or lose. You can wait to decide but can't catch new UFOs until you choose.

Bonus Items: Win bonus points by using items earned from horse competitions, friends' help, or your participation in the Great Challenge.

Climb the Ranks: Accumulate points to rise in the rankings, unlocking gifts associated with your rank and those below.

Mobile version

The mobile version is available for this contest.

To avoid compatibility issues, we recommend you play on the mobile version (if you want to play on a mobile device).

We wish you good luck in both phases!

it's NOT a bug. since there is NO need what soever to enter a horse in the grand prix to get the points there's no need to switch it. if it was absolutely necessary to enter the GP to get the points then yeah they'd change it but there's 8 other ways to get points. so who cares if you can't get the points from the GP get them another way.

Those extra points do matter for some players though. New players and smaller accounts can't get all the points necessary just by entering comps. Doing other things, like doing rides for 30min at a time, entering the GP, or winning particular comps becomes necessary. Yes for 95% of players getting all the horses shoes required no extra effort, but for some players those last few shoes every day can be difficult.

it's not that big a difference to totally change the game 2 days a week. you if it's that big of a deal on sunday enter after midnight gametime on sunday. so it's only saturday that you need to figure out how to make up a few points that are really easy made up elsewhere.

and the newest players with just a few horses who would need the points from GP vs other things probably don't even have access to the GP yet

I personally wish they'd just take the Grand Prix off completely and replace it with "cover a mare" or something. It doesn't make sense to have an objective that's not even doable for a chunk of the week it runs, but if it's such a hassle to change it out for 2 days it should really just be left off entirely.

it's not doable for ONE out of 7 days. you can enter on fri and if you are so desperate for the 5 points wait til it opens on Sun night. getting 100 points takes me less than 10 minutes. yesterday took me like 3. and all i do is enter comps. what helps do it faster is to focus the comps i enter on the comp type i need to win to get extra points. that way if i win i get more than just entering.

Honestly thought the better prizes would make people play more... and we'd get our 4 draws

Really disappointing :/ Obviously it's not over yet but a bit bleak default smiley xd

I thought in one of the last three Great Challenges we got 4 draws though?? Did they change the number of needed horseshoes or something?

If I remember right, we were thousands off last time, might have been over 10% now that I think about it. That's why seeing pretty much the same requirements have discouraged me, as the goal is clearly too big for the server to reach, yet nothing was done to correct it.

We can't help once we've got all the prizes, as the prizes are what increase the goal, not the amount of horseshoes. It's not been horseshoes ever since they changed it to this form. The key is just for extra prizes and to give us more room for error. The problem here is that it feels that, to an extent, there is this expectation that a certain amount of players will buy the key to boost up the amount we have, so the goal is higher as a result.

I'm of the opinion that, after so many failed attempts, something should be put in place to boost up the amount we have to actually give us a chance. Even removing a certain percentage of the total requirement would be a massive help if we are behind. I'm not saying that it should be made easy, but when the server fails something along the lines of 4/5 rounds, something should be done about it.

lol, I decided to take a look at the event page for the first time, and the top post on this page is someone saying that: "New players and smaller accounts can't get all the points necessary just by entering comps...."

@ Royale - Look, I literally restarted my account (it's been a couple of years since I quit) less than 10 days ago. Less than 10, because I haven't yet completed the beginner objective to have 10 days of seniority!! Though it has been slightly difficult (only slightly), I have been able to hit 100 points every single day for this event. If I can do it after starting so recently and being gone for so long, I know it's feasible for others as well if they really want to do this event. No need to make it sound that challenging.

Oh, and you're right Hiram Farmer, I don't have access to the Grand Prix yet!

If I'm getting my 100 horseshoes a day will I be able to get all the prizes before the end of the event? I'm not gonna get the key this time around... too expensive for not so impressive prizes (other than the crow) I do wanna at least get all the "free" prizes. So I'm hopeful that since I will definitely be on every day and collect my 100 - that I'll be able to complete the event.

I'm trying to think ahead and save passes for the Christmas events... I'm a sucker for a Christmas theme!! default smiley (lol)default smiley 8-)

I've had zero problems collecting my 100 per day - I never really have any issues doing so with any of the Great Challenge Events - I believe this is my 1st time not buying the premium key though... I'm lucky to have enough horses that I can get my 100 a day just by doing comps with all my "daily divine horses"...

There should be an extra day or two if you don't have the key.

The only reason I said anything is because Hiram Farmer has said you don’t need to do anything special a bunch of times and I have *personally* helped new players get to the 100 horseshoes a day (not to mention the first time I played the challenge I had quite the time getting to 100). I just wanted to say that certain players are not going to be able to get all the horseshoes unless they’re paying attention and doing some things different from usual, and not being able to do an entire objective can make this even worse.
That’s great you can get all the shoes you need no problem but it clearly sounds like you’ve played the great challenge before and already know what you’re doing.
Again, I wouldn’t have said anything if I hadn’t personally encountered problems, and I understand both of you guys points, but not everyone plays the same game or has the same knowledge of the game.

how to play the GC easily (this is a promo that is easy to do with very little effort outside of normal stuff) is why this topic exists. if you want to know how to get the points easily than ask here. if you don't ask and donate all of your horses or spend all of your BMIs or spend money on tack because you don't realize you don't need to that's not the game's fault. this promo is very simple with just doing what you normally do.

I disagree that every player is going to "easily get the points just doing what they normally do" because for newer players with 6 horses, the most competitions they're going to be able to enter (sans age points) is 36. For them, doing what they normally do isn't going to cut it, they're going to need to probably use the 30-minute ride intervals and possibly tack and horse sales.

Also, lots of players don't grind 100 competitions per day so using other strategies is fine, but it may take some concentrated effort outside of usual gameplay. I got my goal in 5 minutes today selling companions, I'm not saying it's difficult especially as an older player with those resources or that younger players can't get the points or that I *had* to sell the companions (it was a choice on my end). Just that everyone's game is different, so "just do what you do normally and there's never any reason to use resources" isn't always accurate.

1. enter comp type that you need to win. so you can get extra if you win.
2. don't do comps. do rides. you get 8 points from 4 1/2 hour rides vs the 1 point for the comp that takes 2 hours
3. when boarding horses over 3 (without EB and PW) put them in ecs with ear bonnets and polo wraps. use them
4. spend the tiny bit of money on EBs and PWs (they aren't that expensive. way cheaper than buying a horse)
5. use APs.

these are all things that cost very little to NO money and are things all players can do. this promo is doable for everyone with no issues.
and note the lack of enter GP. cause there's much more efficient time use that will garner more points than entering the GP. gp takes 5.5 or 9 hours and gives only 5 points. 1 comps and 4 1/5 hour rides will give you 5 points and only take 3 hours. or 10 half hours of rides for 20 points.

I missed a few days, and can now see i would need 1 more day to finish. Will there be extra time to purchase in the end?

If you haven't bought the key and are willing to spend 600 passes, it also gives you an extra 20 horseshoes per day. You'd need to do the math to see if that would be enough to get you to the finish line, but it's a possibility.

Otherwise, there is one extra (partial) day after day 12 where you can still theoretically collect horseshoes and finish if you missed some, it's not a full day and you'd need to be on during those hours (and it depends how far behind you are) but it's also something to consider.

I’m so upset! I was making sure to participate every day to get to the end without the key and I missed 2 days so even if I buy the key now I still won’t make it to the end, I’ll be 100 off without the key and 40 off with the keydefault smiley :(

Just a thought, it would be nice if those of us that finish early could still add a point to the goal if we get the full horseshoes for the day. I know it's based on prizes now, but allowing us to still help in some way would be a massive help towards meeting the goal. At the the time of posting this, we still need over 31000, I doubt we are going to get amount with 2 1/2 days to finish when key buyers are finished if they kept up.
