The new Ambassadors program!

The new

Ambassadors Program

Take part in the evolution of the game by becoming an Ambassador.

We have been collecting your opinions on the game for years, through surveys, ratings, testing and your comments in the forums and our different communication channels.

Also, as mentioned in our Q&A last may, we are constantly trying to improve the communication and strengthen the relationship with the player base.

This new edition of the Ambassadors Program is another way for us to get closer to the community.

Your feedback is extremely valuable to us. As we strive to enhance your game experience and improve gameplay balance in line with technological developments.

However, the large amount of users, the many different cultures, and the diverse opinions involved make our task very complicated.

We have a few projects underway on which we’d like to consult the community, but on a smaller scale so that we can process all feedback and suggestions as effectively as possible.

That's why we are launching a new version of the Ambassadors program, so that we can work with a smaller group of players and make progress on these topics before presenting them in a more mature version to the whole community.

The Ambassadors

We want to bring together players with a variety of profiles and from all versions of the game. They will be selected by the game team according to their player profile, with the aim of obtaining a group of a good hundred players, representative of the community.

These Ambassadors will represent your interests and give their advice and suggestions regarding the changes we plan to implement on the game.

They can be consulted on big projects, preview game content, take part in even smaller workshops on specific issues, and even propose their own ideas for the game.

Communication will take place mostly on a specific Discord server and in English.

The program has no fixed duration at the moment, it will depend on how the collaboration goes.

Benefits

As an Ambassador, you'll have access to an exclusive Discord server, giving you privileged contact with the game team.

You'll have special status on the global Howrse Discord server, as well as the opportunity to have an exclusive avatar frame on the game. You may also receive rewards based on your involvement, as well as occasional gifts.

Applications

Want to become an Ambassador? Great! You have two weeks to submit your application by completing the following form:

>> Form <<

You will need to provide information about your account, how you play and personal information required for the non-disclosure agreement. This information will be used solely for the purposes of the ambassador program and will be deleted at the end of the program or if your application has been unsuccessful.

Applications will be moderated. Candidates who fail to follow the game's rules of good conduct will face penalties and their application will be rejected, see eligibility criteria below.

This is why we ask them to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Selection

Click to display

Once the registrations are closed, the team will select the group of Ambassadors over a period of several weeks.

The number of Ambassadors is not strictly defined. It will depend on the number of candidates and players of each game version. We really are looking for any profile and invite you to sign up even if you have a small game or little seniority.

Selected candidates will be contacted directly to sign the confidentiality agreement and join the Discord server.

Once everyone has signed the agreement, the list of Ambassadors will be announced and we can get to work!

In summary

· Applications to be sent from October 2nd to October 16th.

· Selection from October 17th.

· Confidentiality agreements signed late October/early November.

· Announcement of Ambassadors around early November.

· Exchanges between the Howrse team and the Ambassadors in the following months

Ambassadors will represent your interests and be there for you so that the game can evolve under the best possible conditions. You do not need to submit your requests to Ambassadors directly as this will make communication with the team more difficult.

We wish only the best for Howrse!

OOOF. Big, big big big huge OOF on my side. I was an Ambassador for another server, but no way I'm putting my name forward this time, if Discord is needed.

My disappointment is immense.

Same here as far as discord... Boo... I'd absolutely love to do it because I'm obsessed with Howrse but I don't use discord...

I had to give in to discord recently but they also want personal details including your address... Sure we didn't need to do this last time.

Oh, were we originally elected Howrse Ambassadors retired? default smiley (ow) I guess that explains why we haven't heard anything in ages default smiley :p

Of course, I would still love to be an Ambassador on Howrse - I have spent a huge portion of the past 16 years helping others on the game (and was on the mod team for many years), but I do not use Discord. I tried it a few years ago, but it never worked easily and I was concerned about confidentiality.

Everything Howrse-related always used to be solely within Howrse - ideal for confidentiality, data security, and accessibility for those of us with disabilities default smiley 8-)

What sort of time commitment is expected?

Also, tried filling out the form from phone and cannot get past page six. It only allows me to use autofill options, which I have very little set as my kiddos like to venture onto my phone behind my back default smiley ;) Will hop onto computer to fill out and hope for better luck.

Ditto. For me, this server, of course default smiley :( I guess our many mod years will have to suffice as a sign of our passion and dedication to helping within the game's wonderful community.

I have to figure out how to get in /onto discord. Do they really want your address i have littles? And i need a computer? I like helping to improve others game as long as it doesn’t involve permanently selling or killing off my pixel ponies. I don’t have to stable or feed all of them each day.

The original Howrse Ambassadors only had to complete about 3 online questionnaires, one of which was then also given to all the players to complete too. The second batch of ambassadors might have more to do, or maybe not. It would depend on needs at any given time.

Someone asked this on the discord, and Howrse's reply was this:
"There is no specific answer to this question: it will depend on the months and topics covered. However, there will be no obligation. If some periods of your real life are more busy, you are not obliged to participate, but regular activity and participation will still be requested"

Also in response to what happened with the last ambassador program, and what the plans are for this one, was this response:

"We did implement plenty of Ambassador ideas, with the monetization update and further updates after that. However, we admit and regret that the first Ambassadors program kind of faded out very quickly after the new Monetization was implemented. For this time, we don't have just one big project, but many ideas in which we want to consult players: some big ones, some smaller ones, with space for them to offer some ideas and raise issues as well. However, the main game roadmap remains the priority, so there is no guarantee how fast we can implement your ideas.

We want to do better this time. For example, we will be less limited by the way to communicate (a discord server instead of email), which will help to stay in touch.

After a year or so we will assess how it is going, whether we continue the program or not, if we want to recruit more players, etc."

did the last thing like this actually accomplish anything. not sure how many different ways they can ask us our opinions. it's not like they actually listen to us.

I can see why discord was chosen for this, and personally I have no gripe with using it.

However, Howrse regularly runs test servers, which involve making copies of the existing game and then inviting specific individuals to that part of the game. Is there some reason an ambassador only test server cannot be utilitised instead? Especially if there are going to be test and discussions taking place there first before the main Test environ.

Or even utilise the existing Test environment, and set up a separate Ambassador only subforum for the required discussions that are going to need to take place? That only Ambassadors have access to and regular testers are not affected by.

It sounds like a lot of the things are going to be theory only discussions and monitoring feedback given that discord is a requirement and not... all having access to the same server, for example.

Follow up question: If the original Ambassadors that were set up are still active on their respective servers, is there any reason that they were not consulted about this first to confirm if they were still interested? From the comments above, it looks like this wasn't done and instead a new programme was just announced/launched?

What is to stop you from doing this again with the new Ambassadors?

No pressure on time spent but a regular activity is required, even if it's a few hours !

We want to have an exit strategy for this program, to avoid leaving players in confusion. After a year we will assess how it is going, whether we continue the program or not, if we want to recruit more players, etc.

We want to do better this time. We will be in direct communication with you (a discord server instead of email).

you don't listen to your players now when they are very clear on issues. and it's repeated over and over and over and over again. why bring it into another conversation. just listen to what we say on the game.

Based on the description of the program, this will be for specific feedback in regard to whatever projects they have planned, and they want a more cultivated and central group of players to participate, rather than having to compile the feedback they receive across multiple test servers when events/features are in preprod

just feels like a new way to 'pretend" to listen to us but not actually listen.

And yet *they* will pick the version representatives, not the players.
I'm not an expert, but that doesn't historically work exceedingly well-

Yeah, because howrse is just *soooooooooo* committed to listening to any feedback at all, even when directly asking for it.

Pretty telling they booted the last group (with zero communication about it happening) after implementing monetization and literally nothing else, ain't it?

Good luck to anyone that tries to do this for the betterment of the site, but I'll believe it when I see it and am definitely not holding my breath It's not like they haven't ignored major issues brought up on their discord either, I doubt this will be any different.
