[Info] Cross breeders
I don't agree with this. There's no flat random factor of 4, and the formula for GP gain was publicised in 2015, though I understand it's a tad burried by now. This is how the game calculates GP: Click to display The top GP is the current highest GP in the game. The top GP gain is the gain that the top GP horses get, which varies (between 0.1 and 1 usually) based on changes in genetic distrbution and genetic progression in a server.

Totally forgot about this forum...but I dabble in crosses, though my current averages are 11-13k in GP because I'm back from a hiatus and slowly but surely working my herd. I have noticed it's difficult to find 100 blup cross covers in publics. Have had to go with purebreds. Is there a better way of finding crosses in there? Like..for ex..I've got an Appy/TB ready to go...might want to mix it up even more...

Honestly, not really. Finding another crossbreeder is probably your best bet for covers. Most crossbreed horses seem to be from newer players who don't know quite how the game works yet, and therfore don't get bulped. If you like, my breeding far warcry has tons of bulped crossbreeds and I would be happy to do some coverings.

Hello everyone!
I´m planing to start breeding French Trotter/Belgium Riding Pony-crosses. I found out at the Swedish server, that this crossbred could be a good allroundhorse! The skillset of this crossbred is pretty close together. But the weird thing is, my two foals have different 3 primarily skills. I used the same mare but I used two different Belgium Riding Pony-stallions. So the foals are half-siblings. Why do they have different primarily skills even if I have used the same breeds? Does the 3 primarily skills randomize if the whole skillset are so close together? So here are the skillset of the foals: Foal 1 (the filly): Stamina: 384.87 Speed: 364.46 Dressage: 391.28 Gallop: 300.64 Trot: 383.91 Jumping: 395.15 Foal 2 (the colt): Stamina: 391.81 Speed: 363.11 Dressage: 392.14 Gallop: 303.25 Trot:393.66 Jumping:410.83 My second question is, what would you name this crossbred as it own breed?
|
I can't decide, which of these stallions should I breed this mare to?

It's not completely randomized but there is somewhat of a "random growth factor" or "variance" in a foal's genetics. Basically when you breed two horse's their offspring will be an average of the two parents GP "plus a little." That 'plus a little' is where some variance can occur. It's much more noticeable in lower GP horses or horses with very close skills. Belgae Trotting Pony?
|
Why not both? Breed her to one then the other. Really though, depends on what you want. Assuming I copy/pasted right it looks like with Stud 1 you'll get a TB/Arab cross and with Stud 2 you'll get a pure TB. Personally, since you're working with foundies I'd maybe play with the cross more and see where that leads me, but you could also go for the purebred if NIB breeding interests you as well.

RunNRide25 - Thank you for clearing that up, I was so confused about the skillset.
Belgian Trotting Pony sounds as it could be a realistic breed, even thought it isn´t as far as I´m aware. It definitely sounds better than a name like Allround Pony or something like that, that I was thinking of! I was thinking of Belgian Trotting Pony as well, but I wasn´t sure. The name will be Belgian Trotting Pony!

Does anybody have any resources/EC info pages explaining crossbreeding?
I once mixed a horse and she did really well in competitions but the dynamics behind this (Figuring out how to create a horse at a skill level to win competitions that aren't being predominantly won by top gp purebreds). Really want to learn! |
Hey all, I've just returned from a very long hiatus, and discovered the Finnish ponies! What breed would you guys recommend me to cross it with, to win some competitions? It'll be a Finnish dominant one, of course, so I'm looking for what breed mare I should use.
Thank you! |

I've been working gonna high bluped horse witch is 100 blup I've been trying to breed it and test out some of the breeds and try to fit 3 diffrent types of diffrent bred horses (species)(or breed) of horse in one to make a horse for all idk if anyone has done this yet I'm starting off with 3 then moving on up to see what it will make including the coats of other horses and etc.

Anybody do TB/Paint or TB/Appy crosses?
|
I do high GP TB/Appy crosses to win gallop rosettes. I don't have much experience with TB/Paint crosses, but I'd guess they'd be similar. If you want more information or help getting started, feel free to pm me!

My current project
I want to see how this guy does in competitions, but I’m keeping him around regardless of his performance. I definitely want my crosses to be Paint dominant. Any good recommendations for other paint crosses?
|
i'm trying to get back into my (dead) crossbreeding gallop project... my best one in the past was a TB/PSH, what other crosses should I add in?
|
I’m a big fan of Appaloosa mixes myself, but I think it depends on what your goal is with this cross. If you want to continue aiming for gallop comps, I’d recommend checking out the other gallop-specific breeds and going from there.
|
Worked with Icelandic Horses for the first time with this mother/daughter pair, Going Viral and If Walls Could Talk. It's usually a challenge for me to BLUP western specialized horses but these were so easy. They turned out so great too, both are in the top 10 for overall skills, jumping, and dressage and decent at comps so far too.
|
Marwari might also be a good addition to your mix if you're going for a horse that's strong in gallop. When I want to make a cross to win comps, sometimes I prefer to go low in the main skill and boost the secondary ones so your horse can "see" lower level comps. So you could also focus on breeds with higher speed and dressage but lower gallop. |
I feel very tempted to try my hand at western comps with QH or Paint crosses. Not sure what type of cross I want quite yet.
|
Appaloosa and Marwari both sound great, was just trying to figure out a breed to use to build up the secondary skills too!

What breed would you recommend to cross breed with QH?
|
what cross gets wins the slowest?
|
I used to be active years ago but I mostly stuck to purebreds, but this time around I wanted to try out some crosses!
Thoughts on my first cross, Hawk of the Wind? What other breed should I add in? I’m aiming for a horse that can win some rosettes.
|
Thought I would have a little bit of fun with crossbreeding so I made a "French Frie" cross (French Trotter with Friesian)

Hello.
I have a question about cross breeding. Example: Arabian x Paint If I want an Arabian dominant crossbreed, I would breed a male (100%) Arabian with a female (100%) Paint, resulting in a Arabian (50/50 with paint genetics). Following this example, if I was to breed two Arabian dominant (50/50 with paint genetics), what would the resulting foal be? An Arabian or a Paint? If I was to breed a Arabian dominant (50/50 with paint genetics) with a Paint dominant (50/50 with Arabian genetics), what would the resulting foal be? A Paint or an Arabian? |
