Major changes for breeders.

BLUP Revaluation

The BLUP calculation has been reworked to ensure greater equity between breeders.

There was a certain imbalance in the way BLUP is calculated as well as in how the genetic potential and skills are passed down to foals. For example, training a horse in their 3 best skills counted more than age or wins when it came to calculating BLUP. On the other hand, an average BLUP that was lower than 100 would still give you a high enough genetic potential gain so that reaching 100 BLUP lost its interest for some people.

We wanted to give value back to the efforts of determined breeders who make the effort to get to 100 BLUP with their horses before breeding them and thus ensure a greater reward for breeding quality. So here are the changes we've just made.

For more comprehensive list of changes, please see the changelog.

BLUP Calculation

There’s now a better distribution of the 3 factors determining BLUP calculation: the BLUP calculation is less weighted toward training so that wins and horse age count more.

Win weighting: Each win gives you more BLUP than the previous win. The 20th win is therefore the most significant.

Age weighting: Each month gives you more BLUP than the previous month, so you get to the maximum when the horse reaches age 10.
Note: A horse’s BLUP updates after their first aging after the update.

Calculation of a foal's genetic potential

The formula for calculating a foal's genetic potential has been adjusted to change the BLUP factor in the formula.

If the parents' BLUP is below 100, the GP gain is weaker than before, whereas if the parents' BLUP is 100, nothing changes.

Note: Nothing changes for coverings that took place before the change: the genetic potential and innate skills of foals will stay the same as they were expected to be when the covering took place.

Other adjustments: Morpheus' Arms and Nyx Pack

You don't need to wait for a horse to be 3 years old now. You can give a foal Morpheus' Arms or even a Nyx Pack any time after they're born. So you can now save on some aging points!

On the other hand, any horse over 30 years old now loses their Morpheus' Arms.

For all asking about the next event, I bumped up a post that provides information for it on the last page. It helps to read at least the current page, or the previous 5 if you have time as the information has been repeated several timesdefault smiley :)

Alongside the BLUP changes, it states the MA is also undergoing some tweaks. The description states that now 'any horse over 30 years of age loses their MA.' Right now, it is any IMMORTAL horse over 30- any mortal horse that is over 30 keeps their MA until they die. Is this new change getting rid of that, if I am reading it correctly? So any horse, after this new update, no matter whether they are mortal or immortal, are no longer able to keep their MA past 30? default smiley :s

That's correct.

Several of us have asked on preprod whether they can leave mortal horses alone in regards to the MA, and have stated reasons why. We haven't yet heard back about our feedback for this particular change.

Just a suggestion but,

Click to display
If these BLUP changes did occur could it be possible for us to wake lets say 2,000 horses instead of our minimum 1,000? So we would have the chance to find more APs while farming. Otherwise raise the percentage of APs that a horse can find while waking up while farming. With these possible BLUP changes it's going to cost us more APs aging to 10 every time V.S just breeding at 50 BLUP.

This doesn't mean *everyone* must farm 2,000 horses a day, I'm just saying for those who want to farm that many can and will be rewarded with the APs.

If any of that makes sense. default smiley :s

Interesting test I did today:

Click to display

Tested some lusitanos that are 9800GP+, aged up the ones on the live server and here we have the differences:

horse 1

Horse 2: Related to Horse 1, all skills trained and bolded

Preprod:52.83 (7 wins)
horse 1 Preprod

Live
:horse 1 live

Preprod: 68.28 blupp
horse 2

Live: 85.98
horse 2 Live

Breed those 2 together again and this is the result:

Preprod breeding baby:
Baby testing
GP gain:0.33 GP

Live breeding:Baby testing
GP gain: 0.97

I have AMAZING news!

Click to display
A lot of people complain about their inability to get divines unless they buy passes. However, in the upcoming cards promo we can get a Greyfell with EQUUS ONLY!!! If you participate in the card auctions and sales every day the metre at the top of the page will fill up and you can get access to a PRIVATE sale of a DIAMOND joker card. The only prize the diamond card contains other than puzzle pieces is a GREYFELL! You can buy it for roughly 2.5 million equus (may vary depending on the amount of equus you have) so start saving for your divine! And remember you need extra because you need to participate in auctions and direct sales (of cards) in order to get access to the private sale.

It is actually more than that.

You have to fill the meter and that will take from 1.5 to 2 million more just buying cards, assuming you can even get to buying them. We all know how hard it is to get our bid in on the cards and buying all bronze ones will not fill the meter before the promo ends.

Yep, like Spyder said it will be expensive.

You can only buy a card from each type of sale every 2 days. Events run about...19 days each? That's 18 cards roughly to buy. With the percentage you get based on the rarity of the card you buy I think I calculated needing all silvers plus 1 gold to fill the meter. Of course, if you get a mix of bronze, silver and gold and get lucky with buying a diamond then that will work, but buying mostly silvers will be cheaper, but you'd have to make sure to buy everytime you can because you won't get the meter filled otherwise.

I think it's a cool option, but the card auction prices go nuts. I probably won't bother, personally.

I've rarely ever used the Flash Sales in the Card events because the auction prices shoot up, and I'd expect it to get worse if more players now want to participate because of that joker card meter, but you never know. If you log in during low traffic times you might be able to get cards in the auction for cheap. If you're wanting to fill that meter for cheap you can't allow yourself to miss buying any cards. I'm just letting players know to be prepared, because it's not as easy as it sounds. Constant Vigilance! as Mad-Eye Moody would say
