Good points I agree -- I even made the suggestion one time to the admins to just go to a subscription for say 15$ a month giive us all VIP account for that and just be done with it, and be able to pay with credit cards every month ( my MMO I play works this way, and yes I pay every month )
But, well you know the typical response ... and if they did that, they would have to store credit information, which brings up security issues with people's credit cards --- so it most likely will never happen, even though I'd still play |

They wouldn't need to have CC info - this could be done through Paypal easily, just like buying passes.

Hey, could anyone enlighten me as to what the new change will be concerning passes/pass horses? Sorry, just came back from a big break and heard about this, figured most people in this topic would know
|
I just want to put my opinion on the new pass system. I think it is a good idea. People just open your minds to change and think about this. Some people actually care about the horses on this game and don't just stock up on them to kill them amd get passes. Some people don't have enough horses to kill 10 a month. So this new pass system is a good thing if you stop being scared of change. It will help players with less horses so they can get more passes. I get around 1 pass a month from the loyalty pass thing. So this change has its benefits, stop clogging your mind with the bad and open up to changes. Life always changes and so will howrse, so get over it. I do not mean to sound rude or harsh, I just want my opinion heard. You'd think I'd agree with you. I have been lectured many a time about how "they're just pixils" when I expressed my refusal to 'kill' horses. I've been schooled on how if I really wanted passes and can't afford them I can earn them by killing horses. Well, who's sorry now, like the song goes. But I don't like this change one bit. These players have been on this game a long time, longer than me, in many cases, and I have to admire the hard work they put in! Even if I didn't want to play that way. I know this will hurt the game, not just the players directly affected. I would like to trust the game owners, but I can't. I don't like how this new pass system is essentially a guessing game, no one knows how to earn the points, and it's probable that we may not be able to get passes at all. I'd prefer a lot more transparency in just what rules are in place and what has to be done to get the points. I don't like being told to trust those whose trustworthiness has been questioned so many times. As Joseph Wambaugh said in one of his wonderful books, "I'd like to trust you, but you've got too many priors." I've seen a lot of changes since I started, watched all my original friends bail on the game because it's changed so much that they lose interest. I've been attacked in the forums, in my own forum, so I don't post in it any more. We all have our limits. Relying on The Sunk Cost Effect to maintain the player base isn't working, and newbies rarely stick around. Makes me wonder what the real motives of ubisoft is. They can kill this game and it won't make a ripple in their profits. In fact, killing off games often makes the most sense, business wise, if there isn't enough income, not enough players to get the maximum ad revenue. If I'd spent real money on this game I would feel ripped off. I don't want this game to go the way SPP did. I loved that game. And they did pretty much the same thing as howrse is doing. Is ubisoft sending the game to the "kill pen?"

Ubisoft is just trying to make money and pay employees like all companies -
and they have to cut out some things we really can get along without -- I have done just. fine with a grand total of 36 pass horses over more than 5 years on the US server - yes, I buy passes, twice a year -- at Christmas and in either June or July, I survive and have advanced better than I ever have -- yes, I have bought 4 Ballios to help me out -- with real money, and have never regretted it one bit --- different form of play style, that is all it is really -- but yes, I had to learn a new way to p!ay the game; and actually, it has been good for me |
How is it that I have the Mist tree even though the divine wood hasn't been unlocked yet? I'm all confused.

How is it that I have the Mist tree even though the divine wood hasn't been unlocked yet? I'm all confused. You have a chance of bringing back a divine tree along with the actual tree you sent for. There's a note about it in the promo topic

You have a chance of bringing back a divine tree along with the actual tree you sent for. There's a note about it in the promo topic Ohh I see, thank you! I hadn't really been following the details of the promo and wasn't sure if my game was glitching. Thanks for clearing that up Legacy Ann

I do not mean to sound rude or harsh, I just want my opinion heard. Long long answer guys. Click to display I am open for changes, I am not for changes that wreck peoples gameplay, make this game more stressful and harder than it is and on some levels you start wishing the server just burned down and took all data with it. As my friend said: "IRL is complicated already, this is a game, its not supposed to be THIS complicated or stressful!" I agree with her. This game is becoming more complicated and harder than Call of Duty or any other normal PC game that isn't browser-based.We don't need changes that makes this game harder destroy our gameplay. The tempo of gameplay on this game is INSANE right now. Its stressful and less fun for each day that goes by. A lot of people I knew have left or feel like leaving because its impossible to feel any joy in playing. Those who work for pass horses should be able to get those 30 possible passes. Yes by killing horses.PIXEL horses. They don't feel pain or agony. They don't bleed. Not to mention just because I kill them does not make me or anyone else to a monster. They had long beautiful life and now they are being released to forever trot around in paradise meant for just horses with all grass they can eat and see. Since you mentioned "Life changes and so does howrse" this is not real life. And I pretty sure you are aware what happens when horse reaches their highest possible age IRL. And remember people would still kill those pixel horses but for different reason; to get better rankings in "killed horses this month" and to boost their divine. That ranking MAY be howrses way to get rid of old horses that just lay around and do nothing and all other horses that are never aged and are just...there. No idea. Note:This is pixel horses. Yes we kill them. Will they be alive forever if we don't? No.They die at 31-32 years depending how you take care of them, unless you give them p.stone or ignore to board them but then the horse dosent age at all. What do we have then? More and more horses...and more horses...that nobody takes care of and they just sit there and take up space on the server. If this continued for years Howrse would either have to create separate server for those to keep this game running. With means extra expenses that WE as PLAYERS would have to pay for one or other way. Giving up free game maybe. Or bringing another obnoxious version of VIP you need to pay for real money that makes huge cliffs between non-pass-buyers and pass buyers. I don't mind Howrse get more money so both they and Ubisoft can pay the expenses and their employees. They run this everyday, they work hard on the changes. What I do NOT accept is that they seem to be immune to what we players say. Or need. And no we dont say "we need this and that" because we are greedy or whiny and ungrateful, just like they we want this game to succeed so it keeps running. We dont do it because we are selfish. We are here to play with friends but recently each time we started a project or planned to do something new it was taken away. minus GP project: gone. Because Howrse changed the coding so its no longr possible. Insanely high GP on foundies. Because fairies know why it was needed. It was said that it was "unfair" that new players was so long behind the highest GP... selective breeding- once in a time it was possible to somewhat increase horses weakest skill. Lets say morgans dressage or make trot much better than usual. It was fun! But no it was also coded away with also messed up the original breeds that was on howrse from beginnings. Those who collected this kind of numbers know about it. Passes from pass horses are a reward for hard work. If Howrse didn't have us players (those who login daily but don't worry less active people you count too!), this game would get nowhere. And either would it survive so many years. If the system gets implanted a lot of people can say goodbye to VIP including being active in promos, maybe have to step down from one team or two or even all teams because they cannot support the costs involving blupping those horses anymore. You are free to have your opinion and share it,but you are not free to DEMAND we "get over" something that affects us all or our own opinions when our gameplay style is WRECKED.If affects us all. We are also free to share our opinion and give critic about this new system. That was what people was doing.Yes they was annoyed but they had valid points. Maybe they will hear us maybe not. Either way,we tried. I have been on this game since 2007. Dont dare to tell me I dont know what I am speaking about and that my mind is clouded. I know how this game works in and out and can see how it will affect the members this site may have gained today or their future on this game.

I have played since April 2011 on US server, I have seen a lot of changes, some I really hated. But you know what? I have heard time and time and time again, over and over -- change is good, everytime I spoke up and said something negative --
It never seems to be hard to take the changes UNTIL it affects something we really like about the game - so I accept the changes, because that is the way it is -- and as a mod on the US server once told me, the new players won't know it was any other way and it will never bother them, and she was right --'if you are used to it, it will upset you if you let it -- games are !Ike that, they change and we adapt or quit |

Ubisoft is just trying to make money and pay employees like all companies Click to display This game has survived with pass horses ever since I joined almost eight years ago. I don't see why they need to remove them considering they are doing just fine. This is either a move due to greed or because they are now struggling and not telling us. With all the promos and luck item offers on a weekly basis I really doubt the latter.. |
I am aware that they are just pixels but I don't habe the privilege and never will because of allergies to own my own horse, so i get attached to them even though I know they are just pixels.
I am also aware that this is just a game but change is natural and i understand how this can be hard for players I do not mean to say that only my opinion is the right one everyone's opinion matters. @Arabians are best What I meant about not trying to be rude is I mean that i don't want peope people to take offense for having a different opinions. You dont have to be so rude about it. I think now it would be best to move on because bouncing our opinions around and arguing is not really a spoiler topic If you wish to share your opinion further with me or talk about something I said pm me but don't clog up this forum with useless info. Other people might be looking for info.

change is good if you are used to it, it will upset you if you let it -- games are !Ike that, they change and we adapt or quit Change isn't always good for the game. Yes, I may not like some of the changes but I adapt. That said, there are not as many players on this game as there use to be. All you have to do is check the "connected players" numbers. At peak periods, those numbers are less than half of what they use to be. Like I've said before, I never recommend this game to anyone, the reason being, it is too expensive if there is an desire to compete or catch up to a long time player.

I tried the GP race a few times, but I am on a real life money budget, a tight one
I gave up on trying to have the best genetics a long time ago -- now I do my "own thing " and take my time and go slow, and have never had more fun -- not everyone enjoys competition in a game , I can't be the only one on this server or others that feels this way -- I won't talk about the changes anymore - but be glad you folks over here can at least converse about the subject; US server considers this "a rumor" and we can't talk about it --- period |
"change is good" I don't see how this change is going to improve the game in any way whatsoever. all i see is a big slap to the face to all the players who have worked so hard for so long for their passes.
I don't think anyone's going to profit off of this in the long run. i'm just hoping they will listen to the players on this, but i doubt it.

Hi guys,
I have no idea if there was a post about the christmas pass packs already and have been through a few pages in an attempt to find it. Could someone please point me towards the info about them as I would love to know the specifics so I can decide if its worth it Thanks ! Oakie
|
I was planning on buying a big pass pack, most likely not for x-mas as I won't have enough, (Unless I get lucky on book sales next week when my book is available) but if they do away with the pass horses, I'm not buying a pass pack. I have most likely about 50 pass horses I spent 70-100k a piece or so on that I won't get to until Jan. By then, they'd likely be useless. Yes, I have a lot of horses, but I have my own system and I do retire them when it comes to that point so they don't just sit for no reason. They sit until they're made active or sold. So, HmPh!
On top of that, not everyone logs in every day, so there is no guarintee(sp), that they can get the max of 10 passes. I have a friend who rarely breeds, doesn't blup, he just fills comps for people with his fillers, so he won't be able to get enough points. Also...hi
|
Click to display I hate these new pass changes. A long time ago, when Howrse first proposed raising the GP of foundations, we complained enough that they said they wouldn't do it. Then a year later they did. This time with no warning so nobody could start a fuss. I imagine that even if they hear us on pass horses this time, there Will be changes to the pass horse system in the future. I hate this. It will negatively effect so many. Players that keep a herd of AP/pass horses are probably the majority. I just hope, if/when this Does happen, there will be transparency so that we know *exactly* what we have to do every day to get our points, none of this guessing. Also, this divine better have some amazing gifts/perks with it. Like, a pass for every old horse you send to heaven... oh wait we already have that and it's great. And again, I hope they just don't do a ranking for how many horses you kill or send to the safe haven every day. That is morbid, and does not line up with ANY of the points of this game, I thought we were supposed to be having fun with our horses not making kill factories for a ranking. Isn't this a kid's game too? There's been a lot of questionable changes in the past, but this has to be the worst idea they have ever tried to force on us.

Ubisoft is just trying to make money and pay employees like all companies - and they have to cut out some things we really can get along without -- I have done just. fine with a grand total of 36 pass horses over more than 5 years on the US server - yes, I buy passes, twice a year -- at Christmas and in either June or July, I survive and have advanced better than I ever have -- yes, I have bought 4 Ballios to help me out -- with real money, and have never regretted it one bit --- different form of play style, that is all it is really -- but yes, I had to learn a new way to p!ay the game; and actually, it has been good for me Ubisoft is a multimillion dollar company with something of a reputation for killing off games by buying them, draining the player base of any money they are willing to spend, and then leaving them to gather dust when players lose interest in the game that costs more than it is worth. 'They are just trying to pay their workers and make money' isn't an argument that engenders much sympathy when a company is so profit focused they lose all pretence of caring about their customers and opt for the bleed them dry approach instead. For years Howrse has been profitable enough that they were able to create other online game supported by the profits from Howrse (people may remember Dragow), and they had pass horses the entire time. In fact, for much of Howrse's early years we had unlimited pass horses, and yet they still had regular pass buyers who spent significant amounts of money on the game over the years. If these people are no longer spending money (and I know I haven't spent a penny in over a year now), perhaps they should take a look at why they no longer wish to support the game. Can we learn to get along with less passes? Certainly. There are always ways to adapt. However we will not be happy about it, and the way many people adapt will be by downsizing and simply reducing their need for passes, not buying more, which is what Owlient are likely hoping will happen. As I've said before, people do not pay for what they do not enjoy, and we have slowly had more and more changes we are opposed to pushed upon us. I have played since April 2011 on US server, I have seen a lot of changes, some I really hated. But you know what? I have heard time and time and time again, over and over -- change is good, everytime I spoke up and said something negative -- It never seems to be hard to take the changes UNTIL it affects something we really like about the game - so I accept the changes, because that is the way it is -- and as a mod on the US server once told me, the new players won't know it was any other way and it will never bother them, and she was right --'if you are used to it, it will upset you if you let it -- games are !Ike that, they change and we adapt or quit There have been a lot of changes that players have been dubious about, especially in recent years. Some of them turned out not to be as bad as people feared, others have been exactly as bad as people thought they would be and have driven players away. Other players have just altered their approach to the game in response to the changes they do not like - personally I have completely given up on climbing rankings and am content just to hoard the pretty coats I like and collect a few trophies without spending a penny of real money any more. A lot of us have been playing Howrse (and buying passes) since 2007/2008 and have weathered every change with a wait-and-see, we-can-work-with-this approach. In the early years, a lot of the changes we loved - divines used to be exciting (I still have a couple of old cards lying in a draw somewhere, though I sadly didn't get a Sleipnir from them), the introduction of barrel racing was adored by many and then the rest of the western disciplines that had long been asked for, unicorns were another widely appreciated addition - then there were some we had mixed feelings about but stayed positive through, but now it seems like most changes are met with a lot of protests but added anyway and people are losing any desire to keep positive about it. It is true that new players will never miss what they didn't have, but are new players arriving fast enough to replace the old players that are quitting or reducing their pass buying? The number of players logging on daily has certainly dropped. Of those new players, how many are going to be pass buyers? Of course we can adapt or quit, but can Howrse afford to keep haemorrhaging players by upsetting their games and putting them off playing?

I'm just hoping it doesn't come to the US server, where I am a VIP. Since I am able to stay a VIP without spending money on it every month, I buy passes every once and a while. If they get rid of the pass horse system I will still have money to buy those passes I used to buy, but it seems kind of pointless. Did that make any sense?
Too bad we can't talk about it on that certain server since it's considered a rumor. |
