Reducing gaps in innate skills
To minimize the substantial gap between the minimum and maximum innate skills of your horses, we've implemented several changes to how the system works. Innate skills are determined by the Genetic Potential and the BLUP of the parents, with the addition of a random factor. With this update, we've adjusted this random element to reduce excessive variability.
Reducing this gap makes it easier for your horses to achieve high skills. A wider gap rendered this task harder and required you to breed a much higher number of foals to achieve satisfactory results. It's important to note that this is the scenario where the BLUP is set at 100. For example, parents with a BLUP of 100 could previously birth foals with innate skills between 7,200 and 7,800 a difference of 600 points. Now, these same parents will birth foals with innate skills between 7,575 and 7,800 a difference of just 225 points.
In practical terms, this means that foals' innate skills will now be more balanced and less subject to wide variations. The minimum will not be as low as in the past, while the maximum will stay the same.
